Quick answer

On October 23, 2020 it was discovered by Wylie Manufacturing Co. personnel that we had a wiring issue on a total of 100 trailers. This issue originated with the use of a single-wire license plate lamp that was ordered when our usual license plate lamp inventory was depleted, and was used as a substitute with incorrect wiring procedures followed by assembly personnel. At that time we had used up the total inventory of 100 of the substitute lamps. We discovered we had 25 of the trailers still on the yard, that had not yet shipped, but that 75 of the trailers had been shipped in the previous days leading up to the discovery of the wiring issue. The 25 on hand were corrected on site. We quickly identified all 75 of the trailers which had shipped with the incorrect wiring in place, by customer and location. We made the decision to send a replacement 2-wire license plate lamp because it would be straightforward to install correctly. The license plate lamp kits were preassembled by us and the kits were sent out so that all customers would receive the lamps within 2 business days. The attached memo was provided as instruction to the customers. We have asked affected customers to confirm that they have completed the change by emailing us.

What this bulletin may mean before buying

Treat this as service research, not a verdict on one car. Before you buy, compare this communication with official recall campaigns, model-level owner complaint patterns, and the exact vehicle’s VIN-decoded specifications. A bulletin can help you ask a seller or dealer sharper questions about software updates, known repairs, warranty extensions and service history.
