Some aluminum body doors and box lids require excessive force and may make a popping sound when being opened and closed. Certain bodies are equipped with doors or box lids that contain aluminum hinge rods going through metal hinges that are manufactured from a different metal. Under some conditions the hinges can stick or seize due to salt solutions that damage the protective coating of the aluminum hinge rod. If the hinge rod seizes, it can cause damage to the hinge, door, or box lid. To protect the hinge rod from being damaged and seizing, clean the hinge rod and apply a corrosion inhibitor lubricant. A checklist and lubrication process is provided with the notification to include in the Preventive Maintenance and Inspection Checklist for future use.

Treat this as service research, not a verdict on one car. Before you buy, compare this communication with official recall campaigns, model-level owner complaint patterns, and the exact vehicle’s VIN-decoded specifications. A bulletin can help you ask a seller or dealer sharper questions about software updates, known repairs, warranty extensions and service history.
