NHTSA Service Bulletin 10187987: 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018 Altec Aerial Device
Official manufacturer communication context for 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018 Altec Aerial Device, with affected products, buyer checks and links into Carchieve recall, problem and VIN research.
Reviewed June 2026 from NHTSA manufacturer communication and service bulletin records. Carchieve is independent and not affiliated with any vehicle manufacturer or government agency.
Daimler Trucks North America LLC, on behalf of its Freightliner Trucks Division and wholly-owned subsidiary, Western Star Truck Sales Inc., has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists on specific model year 2011 through 2019 Freightliner 108SD, 114SD, 122SD, Business Class M2, and Coronado vehicles manufactured May 4, 2010 through August 23, 2018. Certain vehicles built with Electronic Stability Control may cause the brake lights at the rear of the vehicle to illuminate during an automatic traction control (ATC) event. Brake lamps illuminating with the activation of ATC do not meet the intent that brake lamps provide a steady light when intentionally slowing or stopping the vehicle. Brake lights not illuminating as expected may not accurately signal to other motorists the intent of the driver, leading to an increased risk of a crash.
What this bulletin may mean before buying
Treat this as service research, not a verdict on one car. Before you buy, compare this communication with official recall campaigns, model-level owner complaint patterns, and the exact vehicle’s VIN-decoded specifications. A bulletin can help you ask a seller or dealer sharper questions about software updates, known repairs, warranty extensions and service history.
