Quick answer

In 2006 model year Airstream started using the Nev-R-Lube axle bearing on the Classic models which also had disc brakes. In the 2010 model year they made these bearings standard on all trailers built that were 25 feet and longer. In the near future we will be adding these bearing to more of our product line. We get questions all the time concerning these bearings and to see if they can install these in place of the standard bearing set which has been used for many years. Owners are trying to break free from the routine maintenance required of cleaning and repacking these bearings. If you have the standard bearings they cannot be replaced by the Nev-R-Lube style. There were changes made to both the hub size and the spindle size. The complete axle would have to be replaced.

What this bulletin may mean before buying

Treat this as service research, not a verdict on one car. Before you buy, compare this communication with official recall campaigns, model-level owner complaint patterns, and the exact vehicle’s VIN-decoded specifications. A bulletin can help you ask a seller or dealer sharper questions about software updates, known repairs, warranty extensions and service history.
