Quick answer

TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN: SERVICE ACTION: TRANSMISSION WIRE HARNESS UPGRADE AND RELATED DTC P07XX, P0880 (SA499) - This bulletin provides information to upgrade the transmission wire harness on some 2023MY Sportage (NQ5a) vehicles produced from January 12, 2022 through May 12, 2022, in which the wire harness may rub against the shift cable bracket bolt and in some cases, cause the wiring to become chaffed and create an intermittent ground against the bolt. This condition can potentially cause the MIL to come ON with DTC(s) P07XX and/or P0880 and may cause the vehicle to go default into 5th gear. The vehicle can continue to be operated in default mode (5th gear), but it will accelerate slowly.

What this bulletin may mean before buying

Treat this as service research, not a verdict on one car. Before you buy, compare this communication with official recall campaigns, model-level owner complaint patterns, and the exact vehicle’s VIN-decoded specifications. A bulletin can help you ask a seller or dealer sharper questions about software updates, known repairs, warranty extensions and service history.
