NHTSA Service Bulletin 10214172: Chevrolet Chevrolet
Official manufacturer communication context for model years not specified Chevrolet Chevrolet, with affected products, buyer checks and links into Carchieve recall, problem and VIN research.
Reviewed June 2026 from NHTSA manufacturer communication and service bulletin records. Carchieve is independent and not affiliated with any vehicle manufacturer or government agency.
This communication is to inform specific dealers that have placed and received orders on Chevrolet Performance Parts lifter sets, p/n 88958689. The parts were shipped after 02/25/2022 and may include incorrect parts. This effects only sets with Julian dates between 22056 and 22121. Any set shipped prior to 22056 or after 22121 is not suspect. The Julian date code is located on the part number label just to the right of the part number (on the set box), then the supplier code (1937), then the Julian date code. See attached example picture with the Julian date noted. Action: Identify sets between the two Julian date codes. These suspect parts should be put on hold. Any sets outside that range may continue to be sold without concern. For sets sold over-the-counter, dealers must search their sales records for over-the-counter sales and provide them a copy of this communication. A follow up communication with additional direction will be provided as soon as possible.
What this bulletin may mean before buying
Treat this as service research, not a verdict on one car. Before you buy, compare this communication with official recall campaigns, model-level owner complaint patterns, and the exact vehicle’s VIN-decoded specifications. A bulletin can help you ask a seller or dealer sharper questions about software updates, known repairs, warranty extensions and service history.
