NHTSA Service Bulletin 10217833: 2022 Ford Maverick
Official manufacturer communication context for 2022 Ford Maverick, with affected products, buyer checks and links into Carchieve recall, problem and VIN research.
Reviewed June 2026 from NHTSA manufacturer communication and service bulletin records. Carchieve is independent and not affiliated with any vehicle manufacturer or government agency.
Some 2022 Maverick vehicles built on or before 4-Apr-2022 equipped with 2.0L engine may exhibit a charging system warning indicator with diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) U012D, U0284 and/or U042E stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). The vehicle may also exhibit a malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with DTCs P0036:00 and/or P0138:00 stored in the PCM. This may be caused by water intrusion in the connector C1050. Prior to performing Workshop Manual (WSM) diagnostics, inspect the male and/or female connector C1050 for signs of corrosion or water intrusion. If water or corrosion is found, replace the male and/or female connector C1050 with a pigtail kit and apply electrical grease.
What this bulletin may mean before buying
Treat this as service research, not a verdict on one car. Before you buy, compare this communication with official recall campaigns, model-level owner complaint patterns, and the exact vehicle’s VIN-decoded specifications. A bulletin can help you ask a seller or dealer sharper questions about software updates, known repairs, warranty extensions and service history.
