NHTSA Service Bulletin 10222569: 2021, 2022 Mazda Cx-5
Official manufacturer communication context for 2021, 2022 Mazda Cx-5, with affected products, buyer checks and links into Carchieve recall, problem and VIN research.
Reviewed June 2026 from NHTSA manufacturer communication and service bulletin records. Carchieve is independent and not affiliated with any vehicle manufacturer or government agency.
Some vehicles may exhibit a warning message displayed in the center display a few seconds after the brake system warning light in the instrument cluster has flashed for a moment at the time of departure or stop of the vehicle. This is caused by improper control logic of the gateway unit (GWU). To eliminate this concern, the logic of the GWU has been changed so that a failure determination is not made unless a signal of the brake fluid level sensor lowering has been continued for more than 5 seconds. NOTE: - This modification is only to prevent the warning message displayed in the center display due to changes in the fluid level. Therefore, the brake warning light may be still momentarily illuminated in the instrument cluster when the fluid level fluctuates by vehicle movement. - If the brake system warning light still stays on, the brake fluid amount may be low. In that case, diagnose the vehicle according to the instructions on MGSS.

Before you buy, compare this communication with official recall campaigns, model-level owner complaint patterns, and the exact vehicle’s VIN-decoded specifications. A bulletin can help you ask a seller or dealer sharper questions about software updates, known repairs, warranty extensions and service history.
