NHTSA Service Bulletin 10232421: 2023 Ford Bronco
Official manufacturer communication context for 2023 Ford Bronco, with affected products, buyer checks and links into Carchieve recall, problem and VIN research.
Reviewed June 2026 from NHTSA manufacturer communication and service bulletin records. Carchieve is independent and not affiliated with any vehicle manufacturer or government agency.
Some 2023 Bronco vehicles equipped with 2.7L engine may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P04DB stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). This may be due to a fault detected while in transport mode or a leak in the positive crankcase ventilation system (PCV). To correct the condition, perform a visual inspection of all possible sources outlined in Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-08B pinpoint test (PPT) HG. Deactivate transport mode and place into normal operation mode, refer to WSM, Section 419-10. Clear all DTCs, allow the vehicle to sit with key off for at least 2 hours or until engine coolant temperature (ECT) is below 45C (113F). Start the vehicle and allow it to idle in park (P) for at least 1 minute. Using the appropriate scan tool, check for DTCs. If DTC P04DB returns, perform PPT HG in the WSM.
What this bulletin may mean before buying
Treat this as service research, not a verdict on one car. Before you buy, compare this communication with official recall campaigns, model-level owner complaint patterns, and the exact vehicle’s VIN-decoded specifications. A bulletin can help you ask a seller or dealer sharper questions about software updates, known repairs, warranty extensions and service history.
