Reviewed June 2026 from NHTSA manufacturer communication and service bulletin records. Carchieve is independent and not affiliated with any vehicle manufacturer or government agency.
Some 2021-2022 F-150 vehicles equipped with On-Board Scale may exhibit DTC U3000:54 stored in the VDM after replacement and will not clear. This may be due to the configuration data for the VDM. To correct the condition, download and run the VDM - Vehicle Dynamics Module Configuration app using the latest level of the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS). After the VDM configuration has completed, download and run the VDM - On Board Scales Calibration app and perform the Vehicle Payload Update and the Height Sensor Calibration to complete the repair. The Vehicle Payload Update entry in FDRS should correspond with the rating shown on the Tire and Load Information label found on either the B-pillar or the edge of the driver door. For claiming, use causal part 18B008 and applicable labor operations in Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards Manual.
What this bulletin may mean before buying
Treat this as service research, not a verdict on one car. Before you buy, compare this communication with official recall campaigns, model-level owner complaint patterns, and the exact vehicle’s VIN-decoded specifications. A bulletin can help you ask a seller or dealer sharper questions about software updates, known repairs, warranty extensions and service history.
