Complaint 1. Cracking noises from the area of the rear axle 2. or a message in the instrument cluster "ESP, ABS failed". Cause Anti-cracking disk at the external joint of the side shaft at the rear axle is broken. Remedy Customer complaint due to noises: A test drive must be performed. For a precise noise analysis (localization of the noise), make use of the NVH/PICO. If the joint of the side shaft can be clearly identified as the cause (source of the noise), the following work must be performed: 1. Remove the side shaft, check the anti-cracking disk, and remove the anti-cracking disk if it is broken, 2. then process the external joint as per LI35.30-P-058566 and reinstall the side shaft. After the processing is complete, an anti-cracking disk is no longer required. Customer complaint due to display message "ESP, ABS failed" in the instrument cluster: Read out the fault memory; if a rotational speed sensor of the rear axle is stored in the fault memory, the following work must be performed: 1. Check the rotational speed sensor of the affected side for damage and replace if necessary. 2. Remove the side shaft, check the anti-cracking disk, and remove the anti-cracking disk if it is broken, 3. then process the external joint as per LI35.30-P-058566 and reinstall the side shaft. After the processing is complete, an anti-cracking disk is no longer required. Note: It is not necessary to replace the side shaft.
