Complaint Child seat detected message is shown in the central display and no child seat is installed on the front passenger seat at the time the display message is shown. Cause In certain circumstances, the gesture recognition system may interpret the occupancy status as a child seat present. The following possible conditions may lead to this: 1. Front passenger seat occupied by passenger 2. Object on front passenger seat, e.g. bag or backpack 3. Front passenger seat not occupied The gesture recognition system uses optical imaging to assess the front passenger seat and whether it is occupied and is independent from the occupant classification system input used for airbag deployment. The gesture recognition assessment has no connection to the airbag system. As this is an optical measurement, in certain circumstances a child seat message may be displayed based on the results of the interpretation. There is no influence on airbag system.
