Quick answer

TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN: SERVICE ACTION: FRONT OUTER DOOR HANDLE UNLOCK SENSOR (SA587) - This bulletin provides the procedure to improve the moisture seal both (LH and RH side) outer front door handles on certain 2025MY Sorento PHEV and HEV (MQ4 P/HEV) vehicles equipped with capacitive touch door handles, produced from April 15, 2024 through July 8, 2024. The affected vehicles may intermittently exhibit an inability to unlock the front doors using the capacity touch door handle feature. When the outer front door handle gets wet, moisture may become trapped between the door handle grip body and the unlock touch sensor element which can reduce the touch input sensitivity. The front door(s) can be unlocked using the key fob if the door handle unlock touch sensor does not respond.

What this bulletin may mean before buying

Treat this as service research, not a verdict on one car. Before you buy, compare this communication with official recall campaigns, model-level owner complaint patterns, and the exact vehicle’s VIN-decoded specifications. A bulletin can help you ask a seller or dealer sharper questions about software updates, known repairs, warranty extensions and service history.
