Quick answer

Complaint Red park ring around vehicle without anything in proximity. Consistently reproducible. No DTC in the PARK control unit. Vehicle is a GLC 254 OR 2024 or later 167 GLE/GLS with exterior AMG line (option codes 772 & P31). Cause 254 GLC models or facelifted 167 GLE/GLS models (model year 2024 and on) have a re-designed front AMG bumper. Sensor position 2 and 5, front bumper park ultrasonic sensors ("USS") are occasionally interpreting the AMG bumper overhang as an object in immediate proximity or is detecting as implausible data. When this occurs, the red ring will activate in the head unit. NOTE: Other reasons can also induce the "red ring". Since current park sensor stock is still mixed "Q" levels, it is recommended to verify the concern prior to ordering and replacing. See Remedy section for verification. Remedy Verify concern is rectified via the felt tape method prior to ordering new park sensors. See attachment "Felt Tape Verification" for location of modification. Recommended felt tape part number is A0009838910 and needs to be applied to both left and right side of the vehicle. Fixes Concern: Remove the felt tape and order 2 sensors for the vehicle from the below part numbers that are applicable to the subject vehicle. Please note that if the sensors removed from the vehicle are from when it was built, the aftersales part numbers will be different, please check EPC. Valid part numbers are listed below. Replace only sensor position 2 and 5 (see attachment "Park Sensors to be Replaced"). To get the proper "Q" level sensors: 1. Check parts in current dealer inventory. Recommend to separate stock at dealer level between Q7 and earlier variants. To identify the Q level of the part, see picture "Distance Sensor Q Level". 2. If proper Q level is not found in inventory and parts need to be ordered, please order a few extras to get Q7 level. Parts that are non-Q7 are still valid for other repairs outside of this concern. 3. If dealer does not receive a Q7 sensor in their first order, please open a Star Support Ticket. Part Numbers: A2239050005 9999 Q07 A2239054000 9999 Q07 Does NOT Fix Concern: Please perform additional diagnostics or open a TIPS case to the Body, Chassis, Entertainment inbox.
