Quick answer

Complaint Wind noises from the area of the A-pillars on driver's and/or front passenger side. Cause Depending on the clamping force of the door joint seal on the A-pillar, air swirls may occur at high speeds which cause the seal to vibrate. The door adjustment and the flushness to the A-pillar increase this problem. Remedy To narrow down the cause: As shown in picture 1, mask off the door joint in the area of the A-pillar on the driver and passenger sides, then perform a test drive. If the wind noise can no longer be reproduced, replace the installed door joint seal with the optimized door joint seal. However, if wind noise is still audible, the affected door can be adjusted. To do this, proceed as follows: Check the joint of the driver's and front passenger door all-round for gap dimensions and flushness to the adjacent paneling and, if necessary, adjust. The flushness can be adjusted using the hinges. The doors should tend to be further inwards than the A-pillar so that the airstream is conveyed past it. A tolerance of -2 mm is permissible and should be utilized. (see picture 2)

Before you buy, compare this communication with official recall campaigns, model-level owner complaint patterns, and the exact vehicle’s VIN-decoded specifications.
