In our continuing efforts to assure the proper performance of Mercedes-Benz products and to ensure the satisfaction of our customers, the warranty for the subject vehicles is extended from the original 4 years/50,000 miles to 10 years / 120,000 miles from the vehicles New Vehicle Limited Warranty start date for the coolant system when repairs are required that result from a MIL due to engine coolant backflow. Under this extended warranty, the subject vehicles will be retrofitted with an engine coolant system check-valve. The extended warranty is applicable to the following vehicles: In the event of an illuminated MIL as a result of the conditions specified above, the following fault codes will be present: ECU Fault Code: P012800 Subsequently, the following damage code will be used: 5030F22 Please check the VIN in NetStar/VMI before scheduling the appointment for the repair. Applicable vehicles will be visible in NetStar/VMI on February 14, 2020. Approximately one week after the distribution of this NCU, a letter will be sent to owners of certain vehicles informing them that the warranty for the subject vehicles with a MIL resulting from engine coolant backflow will be extended from the original 4 years/50,000 miles to 10 years/120,000 miles. If customers have already paid to have a repair to address the MIL related to the conditions specified above, they may be eligible for reimbursement. Please advise the customer to follow the instructions detailed below (also included in a copy of the customer letter).
