Reviewed June 2026 from NHTSA manufacturer communication and service bulletin records. Carchieve is independent and not affiliated with any vehicle manufacturer or government agency.
DESCRIPTION When refueling, you may occasionally notice: A gurgling sound from the fuel filler neck. The gas dispenser nozzle clicks off before the tank is full. Fuel vapor or mist from the filler neck. This can occur if 20 minutes have elapsed after pressing the fuel lid button and the fuel tank has resealed the Vapor Recovery System (VRS) before refueling is complete. Before Refueling: 1. Press the fuel-filler lid opener switch. The system will release pressure in the tank through the vapor recovery system (charcoal canister) and enter Refueling Mode. Youll see Ready to Refuel displayed on the instrument cluster. 2. You now have 20 minutes to complete refueling. After 20 minutes, or if the vehicle is turned to READY ON, the tank will automatically reseal the vapor recovery system. If the tank vapor recovery system has resealed, you may notice: The gas pump despenser clicks off before the tank is full. A gurgling sound from the filler neck. Fuel vapor or liquid may spit back from the filler neck. If this happens: 1. Press the fuel-filler lid switch again. 2. Wait until the instrument cluster displays Ready to Refuel. 3.Continue refueling.
What this bulletin may mean before buying
Treat this as service research, not a verdict on one car. Before you buy, compare this communication with official recall campaigns, model-level owner complaint patterns, and the exact vehicle’s VIN-decoded specifications. A bulletin can help you ask a seller or dealer sharper questions about software updates, known repairs, warranty extensions and service history.

No. A recall is a safety campaign with a required remedy for affected VINs. A service bulletin or manufacturer communication usually describes diagnostic, repair, software, warranty or service information.
How should a used-car buyer use this bulletin?
Use it as a research signal. Compare it with recalls, owner complaints, service records, a VIN report and an independent inspection before buying.
