Quick answer

In our continuing efforts to assure the proper performance of Mercedes-Benz products and to enhance the satisfaction of our customers, Mercedes-Benz AG (MBAG), the manufacturer of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, is extending the warranty coverage on the fuel filter unit in certain Model Year (MY) vehicles listed below from the original New Vehicle Limited Warranty of 4 years/50,000 miles to 15 years/150,000 miles (whichever occurs first) due to the following condition: The fuel filter unit might need to be replaced due to minor fuel seepage at the fuel filter flange that could result in fuel odor and/or an activation of the check engine Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL). Note that a risk of fire has been ruled out based on the nature of the fuel seepage and the distance to hot components. The vehicles will be visible and flagged in VMI as OPEN on June 10, 2022

What this bulletin may mean before buying

Treat this as service research, not a verdict on one car. Before you buy, compare this communication with official recall campaigns, model-level owner complaint patterns, and the exact vehicle’s VIN-decoded specifications. A bulletin can help you ask a seller or dealer sharper questions about software updates, known repairs, warranty extensions and service history.
