Complaint Creaking noises/cracking detectable in upper area of side window panes Cause A rivet fixing position of side window pane relative to body-in-white in place during production process Remedy The rivet can be removed as follows: 1. Loosen upper molded part of seal from B-pillar bar and body-in-white flange -> CAREFUL: Do not pull off too far (attachment 1). 2. Secure rivet set on back with butyl ball so that it does not become lost during next operation steps. Protect glass using doubled-up adhesive tape (attachment 2). 3. Bore rivet head from outside (drill bit diameter 8mm) and suction off shavings at the same time -> CAREFUL: Avoid shavings falling between B-pillar bar and seal (attachment 3). Drive remaining rivet inward with a punch (d=3mm) (attachment 4) and remove. The butyl ball from Step 2 prevents it from falling down. 4. Seal opening formed by bored rivet head with a butyl ball d=4mm from inside to outside (attachment 5). Seal sanding spot at B-pillar bar against corrosion with black touch-up paint pen. 5. Fix seal in place at B-pillar bar again.
