Complaint The vehicle cannot disengage P (Park), and a red warning message appears in the instrument cluster. Cause Only vehicles with transmission NAG3C 725.0 and engine M264 with transmission software version 19A/B are affected. (see attachments for how to verify software level) Excessive pressure in the disengaging clutch during monitoring of the parking lock (see attachments for diagram). Various parking lock monitoring errors and R/D monitoring errors occur, only with engine M264 and software versions 19A and 19B. Remedy Perform IPR and check for available VGS control unit software (see parts list for part numbers). If no software is available, AND vehicle has the latest software: 1. Perform special procedure "Resetting of adaptation values 'Park Pawl'" Only perform this special procedure if there is NO available software for the VGS control unit. If software is available: 1. Update the control unit, clear faults, then reevaluate the concern.
