NHTSA Service Bulletin 10167686: Altec Altec
Official manufacturer communication context for model years not specified Altec Altec, with affected products, buyer checks and links into Carchieve recall, problem and VIN research.
Reviewed June 2026 from NHTSA manufacturer communication and service bulletin records. Carchieve is independent and not affiliated with any vehicle manufacturer or government agency.
Altec completes units and chassis to meet customer specifications. Some vehicle chassis may require changes to meet either the customer specifications or other requirements. Changes to tire sizes or weight rating is sometimes needed to meet those requirements. The affected units had the tires changed to increase the load capacity. Altec discovered that the change may not have been documented correctly on the vehicle. A yellow Final Stage Certification Label (refer to Figure 1) should be placed the left side of the chassis near the drivers seating position (refer to Figure 2) when the unit and chassis are completed. That label may be missing specific tire data on some units. Failure to use the correct tire, properly inflated and properly loaded, can result in damage or failure of the tires and loss of control of the vehicle. A Final Stage Certification Label is being supplied with this SIL for each affected unit. The VIN number of the chassis for each specific unit is listed at the bottom of the label. The label must be placed on that unit. Place the Final Stage Certification Label in one of the listed locations on the chassis no later than 30 days after the receipt of this SIL.
What this bulletin may mean before buying
Treat this as service research, not a verdict on one car. Before you buy, compare this communication with official recall campaigns, model-level owner complaint patterns, and the exact vehicle’s VIN-decoded specifications. A bulletin can help you ask a seller or dealer sharper questions about software updates, known repairs, warranty extensions and service history.
