NHTSA Service Bulletin 10167687: Altec Altec
Official manufacturer communication context for model years not specified Altec Altec, with affected products, buyer checks and links into Carchieve recall, problem and VIN research.
Reviewed June 2026 from NHTSA manufacturer communication and service bulletin records. Carchieve is independent and not affiliated with any vehicle manufacturer or government agency.
The existing tool coupler bracket on the affected units is metal and not isolated from boom tip components. Altec has updated the design standard for boom tip covers and insulating components changing the bracket design. Altec recommends updating the affected units by installing a new tool coupler bracket on any unit having a metal tool bracket. Each affected unit should be inspected to see if the tool coupler bracket is metal or plastic. The original tool coupler bracket is a formed steel plate that can be seen next to the tool couplers. Look for a metal mounting surface (refer to Figure 1). If the bracket is metal, order the Tool Bracket Update Kit, part number 990860410, by calling 1-877-GO ALTEC (1-877-462-5832). The bracket should be installed no later than the next scheduled service interval.
