Quick answer

Complaint Bulging and contact of the rear spoiler when hatch is opened (picture 1-1). When opening the rear hatch, the rear spoiler rests at the roof edge, which can result in damage to the rear spoiler and roof if the hatch is forcefully opened when the rear spoiler is bulged over (picture 1-2). Cause In the event of higher outside temperatures, the spoiler of the rear-end door thermally expands and may be above the roof by several millimeters. When opening the rear hatch when the rear spoiler is in a bulged condition, this can result in a collision between the rear spoiler and the roof edge. The cause may be related to fastening clips of the rear spoiler that have become loose. Remedy Remove rear spoiler, replace all fastening clips. Install rear spoiler again. In the event of damage, repair the vehicle. After assembly of the rear spoiler, check whether the clip is completely locked: When the rear-end door is open, press against the rear spoiler with your thumbs with around 5 kg of pressure (picture) 4). If it is possible to easily press the rear spoiler against the roof edge, the clip is not locked or may be damaged.

What this bulletin may mean before buying

Treat this as service research, not a verdict on one car. Before you buy, compare this communication with official recall campaigns, model-level owner complaint patterns, and the exact vehicle’s VIN-decoded specifications. A bulletin can help you ask a seller or dealer sharper questions about software updates, known repairs, warranty extensions and service history.
